Platform Lamps Roundup
Prior to version 9 of the Studio, the only light source that could illuminate objects was the daylight built into the Studio. It was not possible to make models which contain a light source that can radiate light and shine it onto objects. Lights worked by setting an emissive texture for the bulb. Some lights have cones or light scatters, but these wouldn’t light objects under the light. Some of these lights required animations to switch them on or off.
Version 9 of the Studio supports real lights and these look and behave much better. Most version 9 lights come on automatically at night without the need for animations. Some updated lamps have kept their old animations to maintain compatibility with older layouts, but animations are deprecated going forward. At the time of writing, not all the catalogue lights have not been updated to version 9.
Here’s a list of platform type lights, mostly from the catalog. Most are also suitable for use on streets. In common with all objects, the lamps can be made bigger or smaller by setting the scaling factor in the properties dialog.
